Pennington says shoulder fine after double session
New York Jets (t d f) quarterback Chad Pennington threw in both practice sessions Monday and said his surgically
repaired right shoulder felt fine after its first big test of
training camp.
Fantasy sac says: (t d f) I'm not sold on this, mainly because I'm a Jets hater, I have this sneaking feeling that Fiedler will get in there some how, I feel its a matter of when not if at this point, Its going to be one of those plays where Chad is in motion to throw the ball and some one behind him hits his and and knocks the ball out, impeding his throw in the process.

he's needed this surgery for a while. he's great in the red zone, and I'd love to see him have a great season.
I don't think he is the answer I just have this feeling he is going to see some playing time this year, and won't be too shabby in that role.
So you're hoping that Chad Pennington gets injured because you hate the Jets... well, same to you pal!
Seriously though, people are heavily undervaluing him in the draft. He's in a good offense, has a couple of weapons, it's a nice gamble on a late round pick. He's shown competence before to be a top 10 QB... Is that 'if' too big not to take him as a 8th rounder... you have to like him better than Rothlisberger, Carr, Delhomme, and Plummer... maybe I'm biased for the green and white, but in a drop of a hat I'd take a gamble with a high reward over these 4 QBs
I have to hate Chad its in the Dolphins hand book, next to the secret handshake and the recipe for sacrificial lamb steaks.
I can agree I would take him before Big Ben and Carr but not before Delhomme and Plumer, look at the numbers, Chad is not in their "fantasy" league. I do think your biased, but so am I! I won't pick up and Jets either, thats how bad I am!
Despite the fact that you will never take a Jet, I feel the need to defend 'The Chad' and his numbers compared to Delhomme
and Plummer for the rest of your readers. I completely understand though, as a Yankee fan, a Red Sox will never be on my fantasy baseball team.
2004
Pennington - 13games/ 242-370/ 2673yds/ 9TD/ 9INT
Delhomme - 16 games / 310-533/ 3886yds/ 10TD/ 15 INT
Plummer - 16 games / 303-521/ 4089yds/ 20TD/ 20 INT
First off 'The Chad' played 3 less games missing BAL, CLE, & ARI. Which the 3 passing defenses rank from good (BAL), mediocre(ARI), to bad (CLE)... Assuming an average return for those games, 'The Chad' would have had a line in the 3500yds / 14TDs / 14INT ballpark.
Pretty close to Delhomme's line except not as many passing opportunities in the Paul Hackett's rope-a-dope system. In fact, The Jets run to pass ratio in 04 was 45pass/55run. Heimerdinger's offense at TEN was 58pass/42run. Baring mind, TEN was often passing to make up deficits, his offenses are generally more aggressive.
So putting 'The Chad' in a new offense, he makes up some of the ground on Plummer and his 20TDs. So if the two are reasonably equal, I'd rather the more effecient QB... simply because there is more upside. Pennington at 65% and 14INTs comp or Plummer at 58% and 20INTs. If I can get the Chad two to three rounds later than I could get Plummer with a good chance for some sleep, it's a nice move. Plus, Plummer and Pennington are taken to be reserve, I like a little risk in a guy that I'm not relying on with my starter.
Plus and minuses - The additon of Coles is a plus. The Jets 06 schedule (based on last years teams) is a neg. Not to knock your Fins, but you guys lost some secondary. The Pats lost Crennel and relied heavily on LBs to counteract a depleted secondary last year - Bruschi's out, Ted Johnson retired - yes they have Harrison, but I not sold on the rest of the DBs. As for the Bills, I'll admit to that they are scary, but I can always sit 'the Chad' for those two games.
Hey the other day I mocked drafted with friends and some guy took Ricky Williams in the 3rd round - Pennington in the 8th is not outrageous.
Great site, by the way... always a nice distraction from work.
Nice work! Thats what I like to see here, See the above statement, We (I) don't know everything, YOU guys do!
chad pennington has a spagetti arm:)
