Mock Draft Results

Ok I had to fix this post as Firefox died when I was mid sentence. It was one fo the most stellar posts to date, full of great insite and commentary, now its all gone, and your left with this crappy post, don't blame me, blame firefox.
Anyhow here is the first 10 of our moc draft. I suspect there will be a lot of guys trying to explain their picks, like BYT, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!

I think you can follow the draft here.
1 Team Juggernaut Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB

2 Burn your Tires Manning, Peyton IND QB

3 Blind Bear Alexander, Shaun SEA RB

4 Drsoos James, Edgerrin IND RB

5 Kathy's Husband McGahee, Willis BUF RB

6 Nepal All-Stars Holmes, Priest KCC RB

I probably should have waited another round for L.Jordan and got Horn instead. But RB pickens were getting small, and Rd.3 isn't too bad of time to get Jordan.
D.McAllister/A.Green/L.Jordan for my first 3 picks, I think I would be happy with that. (Right here is why you don't take a QB in Rd 1, because there will be people who draft like I did and you would have ended up with a much weaker RB corps) and you'll have... jeezus Kathy's... a QB in Rd.1 and 2!? -you can only start 1 of them! and look you have Larry Johnson in Rd.3!? he's round 6 earliest. -are you sure Kathy isn't doing the draft!? -jk-

sorry kathy's. you took RB Round 1. my bad

I based my qb in round one on 6 pts/touchdown used in my league. who ever thinks manning won't throw as many td's this year is crazy. edge will get about the same td's he did last year, manning is too good at disecting defenses. i predict he'll get at least 45 td's this year.

micheal bennett went early. is someone expecting a blowout season? i agree his potential is strong, is there something we need to know?

yeah, I saw that it was only 4 point pass TDs. With it being like that I think it should be all RB,WR picks for the first 4 to 5 Rounds.

I picked up Bennett he IS the starter for now, and there really is not other option then Moore and he is not slated to start unless he is hurt, I like grabbing guys on potent Offences. As for Kathy and her "husband". Quit now will ya, your makeing us look bad!

an on-going critique-
L.Johnson has some good potential if you have holmes you want to handcuff him round 6 or 7. However he isn't the starter yet and burning a pick on him before round 5 is going to hurt you.

Do you think TO is even going to play this year? I can't tell.

Manning -I can see the mistake -guys remember to research your leagues scoring system before your draft. (and at that I don't even know how many starters we have in this one...)

Portis seems a little early, you probably could have gotten him the next round

Bennett seems a little early, I've seen him slip to mid late rounds. You could have gotten a better WR at that pick than what you'll get later

Gonzo Rd 3 seems normal, but still too early for my taste

Bettis/Foster/Johnson can be snagged in mid rounds -I'm still not sold on Miamis RB Brown when you could have gotten Jordan, Arrington, or Cadillac which seem a bit better options with more focus on them.

Jordan makes my team weaker and Horn would have made it stonger.

Thats that Auto Draft thing I really didn't want Bennett but he was one of the certain starters left

did anyone get a chance to watch the Vikings play? I just saw M.Moore had some good carries and was wondering if he was playing any in 1st or 2nd quarter.?

i think ron dayne may make a run for the starting job in denver.

reason for qb in first round. new no bump rule means more qb, wideout production. don't be left behind with old ways of thinking.

there are a ton of freakin' good running backs in the league this year. I lost my league last year cause of yahoo's can't cut list of runningbacks. if i could have used the waiver wire the outcome would have been different. this is just a mock draft and I wanted to see how the outcome will be. In a 6pt quaterback td league, things look pretty good.

manning
c.martin -lead the leage in rushing last year.
westbrook

wait to see the receivers i pick. they'll all smoke you:)

possible scenerao:

pick one runningback and then hit the receivers. with the new rule about no contact, receivers will score as many td's as runningbacks.

Anonymous said...

they had that rule last year and it didn't make much difference

burnyourtires said...

I must disagree with you, it made a huge difference.

That's cool, I just haven't noticed a significant change in WR stats to think that. looking at 04 vs. 03 there is a little bit of variance, but when I looked at a few of the WR career stats they were not off very much from previous season with the exceptions of younger WR doing better and older ones dropping off.

burnyourtires said...

it's cool the way things trend. one position will be strong for a while and then another will show more strength. aggressive defenses have to watch out a little more.

did you see the steelers defense last night? I know it was a preseason game and the eagles are kinda backwards right now, but damn, that steeler d looked killer.

DAMMIT!!!

I was just looking at my draft, I have the god damn green bay packers!

I did something like this in a practice draft too but I had Seatle's team.

The Real (Eric), You suck, You can't draft to save your life. That's why I kill you in our league ever year. No matter how many mock drafts you do, you're still gonna suck. Just give up.

If you guys are going to do a real league let me know and I can show you how a good draft is done. It's really pretty easy just do the opposite of the real.

Anonymous said...

people from my league trash talking me in here ...nice

Anonymous said...

so are you going to share any insight on the draft? or just pop in and talk smack?

I don't think he listens to the show close enough or reads the posts ...otherwise he would have known about the league and the mock draft...

at-least he's not the one who is always bitching and crying about how the world and scoring system is so unfair and against them.

burnyourtires said...

hey y'all, are we gonna run our teams through the season. that'd be cool.

Man I have this effect on QBs! Last year I drafted Gannon and Maddox. in this draft I have Farve and Brooks.

Farve with his 80 year old hip problem (They say he's had it since 92 so I guess it's not too bad)

Brooks who is on a team that is making a shift to being focused on the run... Who knows, maybe that will help him do better. -I'm not sure though

OK here's some reasoning behind the pics:

Culpepper, Daunte MIN QB - 5 2.08
Vick, Michael ATL QB - 8 6.08
Benson, Cedric CHI RB - 4 8.08
Dunn, Warrick ATL RB - 8 7.05
Johnson, Larry KCC RB - 5 3.05
McGahee, Willis BUF RB - 9 1.05
Bennett, Drew TEN WR - 10 5.05
Clayton, Michael TBB WR - 7 4.0

1st pick was obvious
2nd pick Culpepper was the best on the board, hell he's beaten me 4 times now.
3rd A little early for LJ but I didn't want to loose out. He'll be starting by week 2 after Priest goes down. 4th with michael clayton - I just wanted a good wr
5th with Drew Bennett - same as 4th
6th with Mike Vick - hell I'm surprised he lasted this long
7th with Warrick Dunn - will do damn good 'cause Duckett still sucks.
8th with Cedrick Benson - the only option in Chicago

complain all u want but I think I'm doing well. Tony Gonzales with a 3rd round pick???

the way the saints were playing my first round pick in the last pre-season game. He may turn out to be a bad pick. Duece McAllister had 20 damn carries in a preseason game. With all the big season changing injuries that happen in preseason... That's just not very smart if you ask me. -regardless if they are trying to learn a new run offence or not.
