I really liked your blog this week. Instead of mowing the lawn while listening to your blog, I listened to it on Sunday as I was driving from Florida to Georgia. I really think that you are missing the Priest Holmes boat though this season. I have the 4th overall pick, and the guy with the #2 pick is unsure if he is going to take Manning or Alexander. LT will be drafted first. So, at the #4 pick, it could either be Manning (which I'll pass on, no pun intended), Priest, or Edge. I don't want to be that guy who passed up on Priest and lost the league. Yes, Priest is getting older, has injury issues, and you have to handcuff Larry Johnson in rounds 6-9, but the upside is greater than the downside. When Priest is on all cylinders, he's the best in the league. I would take him at the 4th pick if he is available, and I would handcuff Larry Johnson in round 6 or 7. Edge had only 1 TD more than Priest last season, but Priest only played through week 8! Peyton throws too much in the red zone and although he won't come close to throwing 49 TDs this season, he will still take away TDs from Edge. Please, give me a compelling reason to take Edge over Priest! I'd love to hear from you and your fan club on what they think!

My thoughts are simple on this. Priest has been the RB everyone wants for the past 3 years, with all good reasons. Look at the numbers and you will see how good he is. One thing to note is that its only been the last 3 (-1 for injury 2004) years that Holmes has put up these big numbers at the same time Trent Green's numbers have increased as well, mainly his passing yardage. Also Holmes has had more opportunity's to score, registering 300+ carries 3 of those years. This tells me 2 things, One-KC's D sucks, so every game is a shoot out hence the crazy numbers. Look at the team Averages
30.2 Points a Game | 418.4 Yards | 275.4 Yds Passing | 143.1 Yards Rushing |
Point 2) KC has the best O line in the game, this helps Holmes a lot as well, this is well documented look at how LJ and Blaylock did in Holmes's absence. Moreover the past 4 years KC has had one of the easiest schedules as well, this year they have the 4th hardest increasing my thoughts that Holmes may struggle.
Edge has a little more baggage then Holmes in that he has more carries over his career but he is also 5 years younger then Holmes and his injury was a few years ago and Holmes is more recent, indicating a potential breakdown, related to age. My guess is KC's D is better, their WRs are better, reducing Holmes numbers. On the flipside, Edge is in the last year of his contract, Younger, healthier and on the best offensive team in the league, puts up better numbers, ok discuss.

I would have sworn that someone would have lit this up by now...
It's hard to pass on Holmes. even more so, if you're a KC fan. I would think that if KC's D is a good as it sounds that they may have the tendency to run the ball more to control the clock. Another drawback to having Holmes is that you lose a draft pick to get LJ.
Not that it matters but, KC's O-line is good but it won't make a shitty RB good. there was a year or 2 between Marcus Allen and Holmes where they couldn't do anything. (Part of it was because of the great QBs we had too. my favorite was Bono, Elvis was close to being my fav though! -keep Elvis and ditch Gannon... pure brilliance!)
