drsoos, I've been thinking of a good topic to discuss on this blog and I've come up with one to geek around with. My league uses yahoo scoring as well as yours and probably some other guys that hang around here. It might be cool to toss around draft order ideas based on scoring

qb=6pts td plus 1pt/50yrds
backs,tightends, receivers=6pts td plus 1pt/20yrds
you know the rest.

anyway, this is only my second year with fantasy fb and am curious as to what you and the other guys think about draft order.

qb first? Two running backs first? best player available? killer defense maybe before 3rd back or receiver etc. What do you think?

As for scoring I keep the Yahoo defaults for the most part.
As far as drafting? Thats tougher it all depends on how you set up your team. I like RB RB RB RB QB WR WR WR QB RB D K TE

But it never works out that way.
In the past I have forced myself to pick evenly like RB, QB, WR then pick up backups but I have found that I can't pass up a good player and stick to my scheme. So If my first RB is Green and Holmes is still on the board I'm going to get him even though I could have gotten McNabb. Sometimes you have to pick the best player on the board. As for Kickers and D and TE I'm famous for sometimes not even picking any of these in a draft and one year, to prove a point I have never played a TE since I was convinced they could do more harm then good, I came in 2nd that year. kickers and D's are a dime a dozen they will not help you win or loose your league.

As to answer Mike's question, 4 is not bad but the hording will occur with QB's and RB's later in the year as guys start to break out. Last year we had a guy with 5 QB's on the bench. Breese, Pennington, Volek, Bledsoe and I think he actually played Carr. But he was strong everywhere else so he just keep guys off the board from everyne else. Its not the first time I have seen this. This year my league, 2 bench players thats it. Because there were seveal guys who could ahve used Breese and even Bledsoe.

it's hard not to draft one of the great qb's(manning, culpepper, mcnabb) first cause they score so many points. We had some killer defensive scoring last year and david ackers was a monster scoring wise.

we don't do any bench players. strictly 3qb's, 4rb's (we had only 3 last year) 5 wideouts, I think two te's and two of everything else. I'm tempted to take the best available player. for example gonzelas (sp) had more td's last year than most receivers. If I can pick first, I'm taking manning (another tennessee grad:). second is a tuff one, maybe culpepper cause those darn qb's score so many td's. I'm thinking this year though will be the year of the running back .
does anyone think teams switching to the 3/4 will affect the running game negatively or positively?

You know, they say draft RBs #1, and #2 because there is less overall, top-scoring, depth at that spot. However, for the past 2-3 years for my league. It's been they guys who were stacked at QB with 2-3 solid starters, that end up winning it. Plus the QB's are the ones that get the most points at the end. (My league does have 2 QB spots rather than just the norm of just 1) I've decided that taking a QB with your 1 or 2 pick is a good thing to do -so long as it's a good QB.

Thanks for the call out on the show!
I'm telling ya, take my advice on Tiki! How old is he 90?! (I know he's like 30/31 but people talk like he's 25 and then say Holmes is old)
