McAllister inks extension with Saints: "Deuce McAllister ( ) agreed to an seven-year contract extension with the New Orleans Saints ( ) on Thursday, avoiding a feared holdout for the centerpiece of the team's offense."

Fantasy sac says: ( ) This may or may not be good news. We have been talking about guys in last years of contracts and their production. There is also the flipside when a guy signs a long contract does his production go down? Hey guys get working on that i need STATS, STAT!

it's hard to find contract agreements at all, so it's hard to say if there is a correlation between long term agreements and performance. having said that, however, some of the best players of all time stayed w/ a team for years: i.e. joe montana 49rs 11yrs; jerry rice 49rs 15yrs; emmit smith dallas 12yrs; barry sanders detroit 10yrs; brett fav-re green bay 12yrs; payton manning indy 7yrs.

even though i don't know what kind of contracts they signed, i doubt that they were all renewed on a 2 year basis each time. even though i'm sure we could come up w/ plenty of players that signed big contracts that ended up busting (brian bosworth ring a bell?).
